Ukraine's Defence Minister reports on proportion of women amongst volunteers in Armed Forces

From 21 to 27 October, 853 Ukrainians applied to the Ukrainian Armed Forces' recruitment centres. Of them, 19% are women.

Details: 197 of applicants have taken the first steps towards serving in Ukraine’s defence forces.

According to the Ministry of Defence, recruiting centres have already been visited by 22,763 people. Nearly a quarter of these individuals are already in the process of looking for job openings and registering.

Recruiting centres have around 10,000 openings, including positions for lawyers, accountants, UAV operators, doctors, psychiatrists, and other professionals.

As of June 2024, more than 67,000 women are serving in Ukraine’s Armed Forces. More than 10,000 of them are directly involved in combat missions on the front lines.

For instance, 38,000 women served in the Armed Forces as of summer of 2022, with 7,000 joining at the start of Russian full-scale invasion.
