Previously: After the National Security and Defence Council meeting on 22 October, Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin announced his resignation. This decision followed a series of revelations regarding prosecutors receiving unjustified benefits and disability claims.

Background:

  • On 4 October, law enforcement exposed Head of the Khmelnytskyi Oblast Medical and Social Assessment Board, Tetiana Krupa, and her son, Oleksandr Krupa, an official at the regional Pension Fund, for illegal enrichment.
  • Journalist and editor-in-chief of Censor.Net, Yurii Butusov, revealed that Tetiana Krupa registered disability status for 49 prosecutors from Khmelnytskyi, led by regional prosecutor Oleksii Oliinyk.
  • Oliinyk stated that disabilities were real but denied the journalists' claims that it was obtained illegally. However, he later requested to be relieved of his position.
