Russia failed to impose its viewpoint on BRICS summit participants – Ukraine's Foreign Ministry
Ukraine’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) believes that Russia has failed to "export" its neo-imperialist views on changing the global order and security architecture through aggression against Ukraine to the participants of the BRICS summit.

Details: The Foreign Ministry’s conclusion follows an analysis of paragraph 36 of the final declaration of the BRICS summit in Kazan. The ministry noted that the participants only reiterated their own national positions on the situation in Ukraine, their commitment to the goals and principles of the UN Charter, and a peaceful resolution through diplomacy.
Quote: "Moscow's attempts to impose the notion of an alternative position of the so-called Global South regarding Russia's aggression against Ukraine have once again failed.
The declaration demonstrated that BRICS, as a union, does not have a unified stance on Russia's aggression against Ukraine. We are convinced this is due to the majority of these countries supporting the goals and principles of the UN Charter, as mentioned in the statement. Such support is incompatible with supporting aggression or changing borders by force, and therefore incompatible with supporting Russia and its aggressive war against Ukraine."
More details: The Russian media outlet Novaya Gazeta (New Newspaper) also noted that the final declaration contained only one reference to the war in Ukraine.
Quote: "We recall national positions concerning the situation in and around Ukraine as expressed in the appropriate fora, including the UNSC and the UNGA. We emphasise that all states should act consistently with the purposes and principles of the UN Charter in their entirety and interrelation.
We note with appreciation relevant proposals of mediation and good offices, aimed at a peaceful resolution of the conflict through dialogue and diplomacy."
The signatories also expressed their concern about "the negative impact of illegitimate unilateral coercive measures, including illegal sanctions, on the global economy, international trade, and the achievement of sustainable development goals," Novaya Gazeta writes.
