Ukraine's General Staff says 20,000 conscripts are being trained simultaneously, down from 35,000 in past
Over 20,000 conscripts are currently undergoing training in the training centres of Ukraine's Armed Forces, compared to almost 35,000 a few months ago.
Source: Ukrinform news agency, citing Vasyl Rumak, Head of the Training Department at the Training Centres of the Main Department of Doctrine and Training of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, at a briefing
Quote: "The Armed Forces now have a robust network of training centres. ...There are over 25 training facilities, each with its own specifics. The way we set them up ensures that nearly every branch of the armed forces has its own training centre, allowing military specialists to receive training tailored to their specific needs. This has enabled the military authorities to influence the content and quality of training.
The scale of training has now reached significant levels, with over 20,000 [recruits] being trained simultaneously."
Details: Rumak noted that a few months ago, nearly 35,000 conscripts were undergoing training simultaneously, but this number has since decreased.
He added that training each recruit costs the state about UAH 100,000 (approx. US$2,400), which covers salaries, materiel, medical supplies, fuel, ammunition and other expenses.
