Ukraine's air defence responds in Kyiv

Explosions were heard in the city of Kyiv after 04:00 on the night of 18-19 October. Authorities have reported that air defence systems were responding.

Quote from the administration’s head Serhii Popko: "Air defence is responding in Kyiv. Stay in shelters until the all-clear is given!"

Background:

• Russian forces launched attack drones over Ukraine on the evening of 18 October.
• As of 02:45, an air-raid warning was issued in the city of Kyiv and Kyiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, Cherkasy and Poltava oblasts.
• At 03:00, Kyiv Oblast Military Administration reported that the Russian drones were detected in the oblast and air defence systems were responding to the airborne assets.
