UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has said that the participation of North Korean troops on the side of Russia in the war against Ukraine, if confirmed, shows the Kremlin's "level of desperation".

Details: Starmer said he had "seen reports" of North Korean troops being deployed on the side of Russia but did not specify whether UK intelligence had confirmed those reports.

Quote: "If this is true, then to me, it looks more like an act of desperation than anything else," he added.

The UK prime minister also referred to data indicating Russia's exhaustion – in particular, the fact that the war is consuming 40% of its budget, and that last month saw the highest level of daily losses of Russian forces since the full-scale invasion began.

  • The Estonian Defence Forces Intelligence Centre believes that the participation of North Korean soldiers in Russia's war against Ukraine will not change the situation at the front.
