Zelenskyy names conditions for negotiations with Russia: More weapons and invitation to NATO

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy believes that Ukraine should negotiate peace with Russia from a stronger position, preferably with heavy weapons and an invitation to NATO.

Quote: "We ask them [partners]: Do you want us to speak with the Russians? Please make us stronger then. So that we can be equal, rather than simply remaining on the sidelines. Give us an invitation [to NATO], give us weapons, etc."

Details: According to Zelenskyy, the purpose of his Victory Plan is to demonstrate to Russia that Ukraine receives powerful weapons from the West and is prepared to use them if Putin does not end the war.

Quote: "[If] your country is strong and has defences, the negotiations go differently; they cannot simply say: ‘Look, if you don’t do this by tomorrow, you will not be there the next day.’ No one will tell you that, because you have an answer to this [threats], and it has been accumulated in Ukraine. This is a deterrence package: appropriate weapons and an appropriate number of military and partners."
