Details: Fico stated that the EU summit would cover three major topics: Ukraine, the Middle East situation and migration.
He reiterated his support for Ukraine's membership in the European Union.
Fico believes that Ukraine's membership in NATO, which is a key component of Zelenskyy's Victory Plan, could spark the third world war. According to Fico, this is a contentious plan that divides nations, which is why the European Council has not taken a firm stance on it.
The Prime Minister reaffirmed that Russia had broken international law by invading and taking Ukraine's territory. However, he opposes measures that he believes will spark open confrontation, such as Ukraine joining NATO or supplying missiles capable of hitting targets on Russian territory.
"In front of all EU leaders, in the presence of President Zelenskyy, I said that the philosophy of the government that I know remains in force, that we want to focus on meaningful and rational cooperation with Ukraine, the result of which should not be killing but helping people who need it," Fico explained.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, for his part, has stated that he does not accept Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Victory Plan, since it is not beneficial to Hungary.
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk believes that the Victory Plan offered by Volodymyr Zelenskyy would be reassessed following the US presidential election.
