Ukrainian committee chooses film to represent Ukraine at 2025 Oscars – video
The Ukrainian Oscar Committee met on Monday, 9 September to choose the film that will represent Ukraine at the 97th Academy Awards presented by the US’s Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Details: Ukraine will be represented in the Best International Feature Film category by Philip Sotnychenko's film La Palisiada.
The three other films considered were House of the Word. An Endless Novel by Taras Tomenko, We Were Recruits by Liubomyr Levytskyi, and Intercepted by Oksana Karpovych.
The film that will represent Ukraine at the Oscars 2025 was voted on by the 14 members of the Oscar Committee.

As a result of the voting, La Palisiada has been selected as the nominee. We wish the representative every success in the Oscar race!" said director Dmytro Sukholytkyi-Sobchuk, chairman of the Ukrainian Oscar Committee.
For reference: La Palisiada is director Philip Sotnychenko's feature film debut. The film's creators describe its genre as post-Soviet noir. It's set in Ukraine in 1996, a few months before the signing of Protocol 6 to the European Convention on Human Rights, which abolished the death penalty. Special technology was used that combines retro film footage with modern digital technology.
The main roles are played by Andrii Zhurba, Novruz Khikmet, Oleksandr Parkhomenko, Valeriia Oleinykova, Olena Mamchur, and Oleksandr Marlieiev.
The film had its world premiere at the Rotterdam Film Festival, where it was presented in the main competition and won the FIPRESCI Award.
