Ukrainian air defence shoots down Russian Shahed UAVs in Kyiv Oblast and in suburbs of Kyiv itself

An air-raid warning was issued in the capital and a number of oblasts of Ukraine on the night of 8-9 September due to the threat of Russian attack drones, and air defence was operating in Kyiv Oblast.

Earlier, an air-raid warning was issued in Kyiv Oblast, and the Air Force warned of drones flying from Poltava Oblast towards Kyiv Oblast.

Serhii Popko, Head of Kyiv City Military Administration, noted the threat of drones to the capital.

Kyiv Oblast Military Administration reported that Russian UAVs had been spotted in Kyiv Oblast, and air defence forces were operating there.

Update: Popko later reported that air defence forces were operating in the suburbs of the capital.

At 01:39, the all-clear was given in Kyiv.
