Search and rescue operation in Lviv complete: 7 people killed, 64 injured – photos

Emergency workers have completed search and rescue operations in response to the morning Russian missile strike on Lviv, which claimed the lives of 7 people, and left 64 more injured. 5 September has been declared a day of mourning in the city.

Quote: "Emergency workers have rescued 12 people. 53 people have been injured. Sadly, seven people have been killed, including, based on updated data, two children (7 and 14 years old)."

Details: It is also noted that psychologists from the Lviv Oblast branch of the SES and the Lviv State University of Life Safety provided assistance to 103 people, including 16 children.

Over 150 emergency workers and 38 appliances have been involved to deal with the aftermath of the attack.

Later, the mayor of the city said that 64 people, including 8 children, had been treated in the hospitals of the First Medical Association after the morning attack. Everyone is receiving proper medical care. Lviv also declared Thursday, 5 September, a day of mourning in memory of those killed in the Russian attack.

Background:

  • On the morning of 4 September, a fire broke out in a residential building near the main railway station, injuring 17 people, following a Russian strike in Lviv. Two schools were damaged and many windows were shattered in the central part of the city.
  • Earlier, Lviv Mayor Andrii Sadovyi reported that seven people, including three children, had been killed in the attack.
  • The mayor also noted that four members of the same family – a mother and three daughters – had been killed in the Russian strike on the city.
