German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock has warned of the risk of disinformation and attempts to influence the federal election scheduled for September 2025, especially from the Russian Federation.

Details: Baerbock said at the Green Future conference in Berlin that "the impact of disinformation campaigns is enormous".

There is a "very elaborate system" here that targets young voters in particular, she added.

Baerbok also drew attention to certain social media algorithms that specifically encourage hatred and hate speech.

"If we don't get this under control, we'll end up in the hands of fake news," she warned.
