Ukrainian tennis player Starodubtseva continues her winning spree defeating Russian-born opponent

Ukrainian tennis player Yuliia Starodubtseva has defeated Armenian Elina Avanesyan and will advance to the fourth round of the WTA 1000 tournament in Beijing.

Details: The match lasted 1 hour and 32 minutes, and the final score was 6-3, 6-1.

Starodubtseva served two aces, while her opponent made none. Avanesyan also made more mistakes on serves, with five double faults to Yuliia's one.

It should be noted that until recently, Avanesyan was a Russian citizen. However, in August, she made the decision to discard her Russian Federation citizenship.

For the second time in her career, Starodubtseva defeated a top 50 opponent. The first time was on 27 September 2024, when Yuliia defeated Kateřina Siniaková, no. 37 in the world rankings.

In the fourth round, Starodubtseva will face the winner of the match between Peyton Stearns (USA) and Anna Kalinskaya (Russia).
