Russians have mounted 83 assaults on Ukrainian positions since start of day – Ukraine's General Staff

Ukraine’s defence forces are holding back the Russians’ offensive, with 83 combat clashes documented over the last 24 hours.

Quote: "Today the villages of Khotin and Korshachyna in the border areas of Sumy Oblast were subjected to a missile attack from Russian territory (the occupiers likely used missiles for the S-300 anti-aircraft system). At the same time, communities in Kharkiv, Chernihiv and Sumy Oblasts came under enemy artillery and mortar fire in the settlements of Sopych, Velyka Pysarivka, Luhivka, Uhroidy, Brusky, Tymofiivka, Iskryskivshchyna and Bilopillia.

In addition to this, the Russians dropped guided aerial bombs on areas of Malushyne, Richky, Yastrubyne, Sosnivky, Kindrativka, Pavlivka, Nova Sloboda and the city of Sumy."

Details: On the Kharkiv front, the Russians have been attempting to assault Ukrainian positions near the city of Vovchansk since the beginning of the day. Residential areas and civilian infrastructure in the city of Kharkiv have been hit by guided aerial bombs.

On the Pokrovsk front, the Russians made 15 attempts to push Ukrainian defenders back from their positions. The defence forces are holding out against the onslaught and have repelled 13 of the Russian attacks. Two combat clashes are still ongoing.

On the Kurakhove front, the Russian army mounted 12 attacks towards Tsukuryne, Zhelanne Druhe, Heorhiivka, Dalnie and Kostiantynivka. Nine Russian attempts to advance have been repelled.

Some combat clashes are also ongoing on other fronts: 15 Russian attacks on the Lyman front, nine on the Kramatorsk front, and seven on the Toretsk front. The defence forces are holding back the Russians on the Toretsk, Kurakhove, Kupiansk and Vremivka fronts. The Russians are actively deploying aircraft, but the Ukrainian forces are holding their positions.

The operation in Russia’s Kursk Oblast is ongoing. Russian aircraft continue to destroy Russian villages and towns. Over the last 24 hours, Russian aircraft have launched six strikes using nine guided aerial bombs on their own territory.
