Quote: "I see Zelenskyy is here. I think Zelenskyy is the greatest salesman in history – every time he comes into the country, he walks away with US$60 billion."
Details: Trump added that he believed the Ukrainian leader "wanted his Democratic opponent, Kamala Harris, to win the election so badly" and said that if he won the election, he would try to push Ukraine and Russia to the negotiating table.
Quote: "If I win this election, the first thing I’m going to do is call up Zelenskyy and call up President Putin and I say, ‘You got to make a deal, this is crazy’."
Details: Trump's comments come as Zelenskyy is due to meet with Harris and President Joe Biden on Thursday to present his Victory Plan.
Previously: President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump does not really know how to stop the war in Ukraine, even "if he might think he knows how".
Background:
- Earlier, Trump said that if he wins, he will be able to get along "well" with Russia and China.
- Trump has repeatedly stated that he knows how to end the war in Ukraine. In a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris, he dodged the question of whether he wanted Ukraine to win the war, repeating only that he "wants to end the war" and claiming that the real human cost of the war was allegedly in the millions.
- Harris, in turn, said that if Trump had been president in recent years instead of Joe Biden, it would have been a disaster for Ukraine and Eastern Europe.
