Pokrovsk continues to be the main target of Russian troops, but Ukraine’s defence forces have managed to slow down Russia's advance on this front.

Details: UK observers have noted that Russia is likely to have captured Hrodivka, east of Pokrovsk, and Ukrainsk, south of the city. Russian troops remain about 8 km from Pokrovsk.

However, reinforcements of Ukrainian troops, urban areas and Ukrainian defences are likely to have contributed to slowing Russia's advance on this front over the past week, the review said.

Meanwhile, in the northeastern part of Kharkiv Oblast, Russian troops have advanced west of the village of Pishchane. They now occupy a small salient 3.5 km from the Oskil River.

The Russians’ likely objective is to reach the eastern bank of the Oskil River in order to use it as a natural defence barrier and create conditions for future operations.
