Quote from The Times: "Zelenskyy’s plan has four key points: first, a request for western security guarantees akin to the mutual defence pact of NATO membership; second, to continue Ukraine’s incursion into Russia’s Kursk region to provide a territorial bargaining chip; third, a request for ‘specific’ advanced weapons; and fourth, international financial aid for Ukraine’s shattered economy."

Details: The Times says one of Zelenskyy's top priorities is American support in view of Donald Trump's potential return to office. The Republican nominee has previously stated that the war could be settled by Ukraine making territorial concessions.

The Ukrainian president intends to present his idea not only to the current US president, but also to both presidential candidates, Kamala Harris and Donald Trump, in order to emphasise the significance of continuing to support Ukraine in its struggle against Russia.

  • On the eve of his visit to the United States, Zelenskyy said that the possibility of US President Joe Biden not supporting Ukraine’s Victory Plan is "a horrible thought", because that would lead to a very long war with a huge number of casualties.
