Russian nighttime attack on Zaporizhzhia: nine people injured and houses damaged – photos

Russian forces attacked the city of Zaporizhzhia with six aerial bombs late in the evening of 22 September. This attack has left nine people injured, including a child.

Details: Fedorov also wrote that the strike partially destroyed buildings. The blast wave and debris damaged nearby houses.

Fires broke out. Rescue workers and firefighters are working at the scenes

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine reported that the Russians had carried out six strikes, presumably using guided aerial bombs. 

Parked cars caught fire and residential buildings were damaged as a result of the strikes.

Police officers, bomb disposal experts, police paramedics, rescue workers and other relevant services of the city are working at the scenes of the strikes.

At 00:57, Fedorov wrote that the number of those who sustained injuries had increased to six, and they were being provided with medical assistance.

All the emergency services are working together to deal with the aftermath of the attack and help the civilians who were injured. 

Tents have been set up at two locations where people can seek support.

An invincibility centre is open around the clock near the scene of the strike [invincibility centres are heated premises stocked with food and power banks to assist residents facing hardships due to power cuts – ed.].

At 01:59, the State Emergency Service reported that the number of people who had been injured had increased to nine, including one child.

Rescue workers evacuated residents from the damaged apartment blocks. One woman was rescued from her own apartment.

Firefighters extinguished a fire in a car and on the balcony of one of the apartments, which covered a total area of 10 square metres. Emergency work was carried out to clear the rubble from the destroyed entrance to the apartments.

In total, 47 rescue workers and 10 fire appliances were employed by the State Emergency Service. 

Police officers, bomb disposal experts, volunteers from the Rapid Response Unit of the Ukrainian Red Cross Society and other emergency services of the city were also working at the scene.

Background: Explosions occurred in Zaporizhzhia on the evening of 22 September. At 22:41, the Air Force of Ukraine reported that Russian troops had launched aerial bombs in Zaporizhzhia Oblast and that this was a threat to Zaporizhzhia itself.
