Details: Ihor Klymenko, on behalf of President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, met with Portugal's Ambassador to Ukraine, António Vasco Alves Machado.
As Klymenko underlined, Portugal is presently dealing with large-scale fires that have ravaged the country's central and northern regions. Heat and strong winds are making it difficult to put out the fire.
The Minister of Internal Affairs offered the ambassador assistance from Ukrainian rescue workers.
Quote: "The State Emergency Service has a specialised firefighting aircraft and trained specialists to work in such conditions," he said.
As of Thursday morning, thousands of firefighters battling devastating wildfires in central and northern Portugal had mostly extinguished the blaze in the municipality of Aveiro, one of the worst-hit areas, and now are focusing on dozens of blazes still raging elsewhere.
Seven people have died as a result of forest fires in southwest Portugal.
