Russians drop guided aerial bomb on retirement home in Sumy, killing one person and injuring others – photos

The Russians have struck a retirement home in Sumy with a guided aerial bomb. Sumy Oblast Military Administration reports that several people were injured and one person has died in hospital.

Details: The attack happened around 16:00 on Thursday, 19 September.

A Russian projectile hit a building of the retirement home. Volodymyr Artiukh said 221 elderly people lived there.

Some of the residents are bedridden. They were urgently evacuated from the building and are receiving medical treatment outside on the grass.

Update: Sumy Oblast Military Administration reported that one person has died of their injuries in hospital. Another nine people were injured.

It is reported that the home’s residents are now being evacuated to other institutions. All the relevant services are involved.

The State Emergency Service has released a video of the aftermath and reported that 12 people were injured.

"The maintenance area and the fourth floor have been partially destroyed. A total of 147 people have been evacuated from the premises. There are no people under the rubble. One person has been killed and twelve injured," the SES noted.
