NATO Secretary General does not believe in Putin's red lines regarding Ukraine's long-range strikes on Russia

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg is sceptical of Russian leader Vladimir Putin's threats, which come amid discussions about allowing Ukraine to launch long-range missiles deep into Russia.

Details: Stoltenberg stated that allowing Ukraine to strike targets in Russia with long-range Western-supplied missiles does not imply that NATO allies will become involved.

Quote: "North Korea and Iran are providing significant military support and providing missiles, drones to Russia without them becoming a direct party to the conflict."

The Secretary General also dismissed Putin's threat that such an authorisation would be a red line that would bring Russia into conflict with NATO.

"There have been many red lines declared by him [Putin - ed.] before, and he has not escalated, meaning also involving Nato allies directly in the conflict. He has not done so, because he realises that Nato is the strongest military alliance in the world," Stoltenberg said. 

NATO Secretary General stated that Putin understands that a nuclear war cannot be won and should not be waged, as NATO has "made that very clear to him several times".

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the decision to allow Ukraine to launch long-range strikes on Russian territory will depend on individual allies. He also stressed that there are always risks in war, but the biggest risk for Europe is a Russian victory in Ukraine.

Ukraine seeks to use long-range missiles to hit Russian airbases and military facilities that are used to attack Ukrainian cities.

Ukraine's Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha is convinced that the Allies should increase their support for Kyiv despite Russian leader Vladimir Putin's threats, as he does nothing beyond talking.
