Kremlin offended by NATO's dismissal of Putin's threats over long-range strikes on Russia

Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin, has stated that NATO's refusal to take Vladimir Putin's statements seriously regarding the supposed consequences of allowing Ukraine to attack Russian territory with long-range Western weapons is "provocative and dangerous".

Background:
- Earlier, Russian leader Vladimir Putin said that giving Kyiv permission to use long-range weapons for strikes on Russia would imply the direct involvement of Western countries in the war.
- NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said that the decision to allow Ukraine to launch long-range strikes on Russian territory would depend on individual allies. He also stressed that there are always risks in war, but the biggest risk for Europe is a Russian victory in Ukraine.
- UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer also responded to Putin's threats, saying that it was the Russian leader who started the war in Ukraine and he could end it straight away.
- The EU stated that Putin's threats would not change the European Union's position on supporting Ukraine.
