Fuel and lubricants warehouse ablaze in Yaroslavl, Russia – photos, video

A large-scale fire broke out at a fuel and lubricants warehouse in the city of Yaroslavl in Russia's Yaroslavl Oblast. Four firefighters were injured in the firefighting efforts.

According to RIA Novosti, a warehouse containing tyres, fuel and lubricants had been on fire.

Later, Russia's Emergency Situations Ministry claimed that a car service station had caught fire and that a gas cylinder had exploded at the scene. Four firefighters were injured and taken to hospital.

Background:

  • In late August, reports indicated that Ukrainian drones had attempted to attack the Yaroslavl oil refinery.
  • On the night of 17-18 September, Ukrainian drones attacked various Russian regions. Russia's Defence Ministry claimed that its air defences had shot down 54 drones.
  • The ministry made no mention of Tver Oblast, where a drone strike targeted an ammunition depot, triggering a fire and detonation.
