Secretary of Russian Security Council arrives in Iran – photo

Sergey Shoigu, the Secretary of the Russian Federation's Security Council, arrived in Iran on Tuesday 17 September.

Details: According to reports, Shoigu met with Ali Akbar Ahmadian, Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council.

TASS does not provide any other information about the trip.

Since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, Iran has supplied Russia with weapons used to attack Ukrainian infrastructure, such as the Shahed-type kamikaze UAVs.

Background: 

• In early September, it was reported that Iran sent its short-range ballistic missiles to Russia.
• European intelligence stated that these were most likely missiles with a range of up to 120 kilometres.
