The sanctions also apply to the autonomous non-profit organisation TV-Novosti, a legal entity of the propaganda foreign broadcasting channel RT, and Eurasia, an autonomous non-profit organisation that promotes Russia's "cultural diplomacy" abroad.

The US Treasury Department's blacklist has also included Russia Today CEO Dmitry Kiselev and Eurasia head Nelli Parutenco, a citizen of Moldova.

The new sanctions were imposed after Washington publicly accused RT of working for Russian intelligence and raising funds to finance the Russian army in the war in Ukraine.

At the same time, the United States, the UK, and Canada announced a diplomatic campaign to expose Russian propagandists' interference in democratic processes around the world.

Earlier, the US Treasury Department imposed sanctions on RT's management and related companies for attempting to interfere in the US presidential election.

The US Department of Justice has also indicted two employees of the propaganda channel for violating foreign agent and money laundering regulations.
