One of the pilots says flying F-16s is really fun, even though he wouldn’t describe flying a Soviet MiG aircraft as "super boring" either. "But the F-16 is definitely more agile. It moves very easily," he reveals.
Major General Jan Dam, Chief of the Royal Danish Air Force, comments that the F-16s, even though they are a relatively old model, have been modernised several times.
"Now it’s a very modern aircraft, comparable with the best Western fighter jets," he notes.
The NATO press service states that the F-16s are being donated to Ukraine by Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium and Norway.
Background:
- On 4 August, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the first F-16 fighter jets were in Ukraine, and showed them off to the public at a secret airbase.
- Western media outlets had reported, citing sources, that six fighter jets were being provided by the Netherlands, and several more would shortly be sent from Denmark.
