Explosion occurs at military plant in Russia, killing three people
An explosion has occurred at the Avangard plant in the Russian city of Sterlitamak in Bashkortostan, killing three people.

Details: The explosion occurred when a repair team was dismantling a pipeline in one of the workshops. All three members of the team were killed.
A criminal case has been opened over the deaths for violation of industrial safety rules. The causes of the incident are being investigated.
The Russian Investigative Committee believed that the workers had violated safety regulations when cutting the pipes, and the gas-air mixture caught fire.
For reference: The Avangard plant belongs to the Russian state-owned Rostec Corporation and fulfils defence orders. It produces parts for multiple-launch rocket systems. The company is subject to sanctions imposed by the European Union, Switzerland and Ukraine.
