World Bank to fund Ukrainian education with US$415 million

The World Bank's Board of Directors approved a new Program-for-Results (PforR) project titled Lifting Education Access and Resilience in Times of Need (LEARN).

Details: The available funding for the LEARN project is US$415 million. The programme allows for financing to:

  • improving teaching and learning conditions, implemented at the expense of grants from the state budget to local budgets.
  • ensuring access for students, teachers, and school staff to safe conditions for in-person teaching and learning.

The project agreement is expected to be signed in September 2024. By the end of 2024, based on achieving pre-defined performance indicators, Ukraine could receive US$200 million into the state budget's general fund.
