Ukraine-NATO Council to meet following Russia's latest air attack
NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will convene a meeting of the NATO-Ukraine Council on 28 August at Kyiv's request.

Details: Dakhlallah said Wednesday’s meeting will be held at the level of permanent representatives.
Quote: "Ukrainian Defence Minister Rustem Umierov is expected to brief Allies via video-link on the battlefield situation and priority capability needs," she added.
Dakhlallah stressed that the meeting follows "recent waves of heavy Russian strikes against Ukrainian civilians and infrastructure".

Background:
- On 26 August, Russia launched 236 aerial weapons on Ukraine. Ukraine's air defence downed 102 missiles and 99 attack drones.
- On the night of 26-27 August, the Russians attacked Ukraine with ten missiles of various types and 81 Shahed attack drones. The Ukrainian Air Force downed five cruise missiles and 60 UAVs.
- Following the massive Russian attack, Josep Borrell, the EU’s top diplomat, once again called for the lifting of restrictions on the use of Western weapons to strike Russian military targets.
