Quote from Jacek Goryszewski: "More than 100 soldiers of the Territorial Defence Forces are already on site. These are ground search and rescue teams."

At the same time, he added that there are no plans to expand the area where the search is being conducted.

Earlier, it was noted that the search was conducted mainly in forests and agricultural fields.

"Ground search and rescue groups of the Territorial Defence Forces are supporting operational troops in the area of the Tyszowce gmina. Soldiers of the 2nd Lublin and 19th Nadbuzhansk Territorial Defence Brigades are involved in the search for an object that flew into Polish airspace this morning,"  the military said yesterday.

Background:

  • Poland reported a violation of its airspace by a "flying object", which was likely a kamikaze drone, after Russia's full-scale attack on Ukraine on the morning of 26 August.
  • General Maciej Klisz, the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command commander, said that the object, which flew from Ukraine, was not shot down due to weather conditions.
  • Polish media, citing army sources, reported that they were inclined to believe that this flying object was a Shahed and had remained in the country's airspace for at least 33 minutes.
