Plachkov noted that one of the most large-scale attacks on the energy infrastructure occurred on 26 August. The attack’s aim was to achieve a total blackout in the energy system. This did not happen, and the power engineers responded quickly and professionally.
Background:
- The 26 August attack on Ukraine cost Russia about US$1.26 billion.
- The Kyiv Hydroelectric Power Plant has not suffered critical damage in the Russian morning attack.
- Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, stated that the morning attack had resulted in much damage to power facilities, but that repairs are underway.
