Details: The Ukrainian was more aggressive in the opening round and emerged as the clear winner. All five judges favoured Khyzhniak. The situation was the same in the second round, leaving Khyzhniak with a comfortable lead heading into the final round.

Khyzhniak finished the first two rounds with a score of 5-0. The only thing that could have saved the Brazilian was a technical decision. That didn’t happen, and the Ukrainian advanced to the semi-finals, which will take place on 4 August.

It is worth noting that Khyzhniak has secured himself a medal in the 2024 Olympics with this victory, as boxing does not have a final for bronze. The 28-year-old Ukrainian boxer won silver at the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, losing to Brazilian Hebert Conceição in the final due to a technical knockout in the third round.

In the round of 16, Khyzhniak defeated former Ukrainian citizen Pylyp Akilov, who now represents Hungary, on the judges' decision.

Earlier, Oleksandr Usyk reportedly met with the Ukrainian Olympic boxing team, handed them envelopes containing cash rewards, and promised to award them substantial prize money for Paris medals out of his own pocket.
