Hungarian defence minister unexpectedly praises heroic and brave struggle of the Ukrainians

Hungarian Defence Minister Kristóf Szalay-Bobrovniczky praised the "heroic and brave struggle of the Ukrainians," while accusing the West of "exacerbating" the conflict.

Details: During the defence minister’s speech, which focused mainly on the state of the Hungarian Armed Forces and the future of warfare, Szalay-Bobrovniczky made several remarks about the war in Ukraine.

Quote: "As a soldier, I have the utmost respect for the heroic and brave struggle of the Ukrainians, but the efforts to negotiate peace show that the war is coming to an end," he said.

Szalay-Bobrovniczky did not specify what "efforts" he was referring to or why he believes that a full-scale conflict in Ukraine is "coming to an end".

He also blamed the West for "exacerbating" the war rather than "containing" it, allowing Russia to establish a military industry capable of providing the required ammunition, troops, and tanks.

However, the Hungarian official feels Ukraine’s resources are depleted and the West must provide financial assistance.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán declared last week that Ukraine is a powerful country that challenges Russia "successfully and with unprecedented force".

At the same time, he believes that peace in Ukraine can only be brought in from the outside.
