US purchases transformers to boost Ukraine's power grid

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) has purchased 18 autotransformers to support Ukraine's power grid.

Quote: "As Russia callously tries to destroy Ukraine's energy grid, we are committed to restore it. Proud that USAID procured 18 autotransformers, with more on the way. This will help keep Ukraine's grid running despite Russia's attacks and enable power to 38 million Ukrainians."

Background:

• Ukrainian food producers received generators from the Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and Germany. 
• The European Union is providing Ukraine with 68 large generators for critical infrastructure.
