Source: Colonel Andrii Demchenko, spokesperson for the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda
Details: Asked to comment on claims recently made by self-proclaimed Belarusian president Alexander Lukashenko regarding the transfer of "almost a third of his army" to the border with Ukraine, Demchenko replied that Lukashenko continues to escalate the information situation by making aggressive statements that are false.
Quote: "The situation on the border with the Republic of Belarus remains unchanged. As you can see, Lukashenko's rhetoric also remains unchanged, exacerbating the situation at regular intervals to appease the terrorist country.
We have not seen any increase in the equipment or manpower of Belarusian units near our border."
Background: Lukashenko claimed in an interview with Russian propagandists on 18 August that Belarus had sent about a third of its army to the Ukrainian border due to the presence of more than 120,000 Ukrainian soldiers there.
