Details: Kasčiūnas believes that the incursion of Ukrainian forces into Kursk Oblast "is an obvious humiliation of Vladimir Putin".
"The so-called defensive lines were apparently not even designed and were not established the way they were supposed to have been designed. At the moment, they [Ukrainians – ed.] captured as much territory as they could in last year’s counteroffensive [Ukraine’s counteroffensive in 2023 during which 14 Ukrainian settlements were liberated - ed.]," he noted.
Kasčiūnas believes that the main result of the operation in Kursk Oblast was raising the morale of Ukrainians amid the discussions about possible "peace talks" with Moscow.
"The Ukrainians decided to make an interesting move; they are strengthening their positions, and if they manage to maintain control over this territory or control over the centres of a certain territory, it considerably increases their negotiating potential," Kasčiūnas assumed.
