News reports show Ukrainians giving out humanitarian aid to civilians in Russia's Kursk Oblast – photos

Ukrainian troops have begun distributing humanitarian aid to civilians in the city of Sudzha in Kursk Oblast, Russia, which is under the control of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

A serviceman featured in the TV report said the army had brought people water, food, canned goods, biscuits, etc. About a hundred people, including children, are known to have stayed in Suzha.

  • At a special meeting on Wednesday, Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy brought up the issue of establishing military commandants' offices if required in the territories of Russia's Kursk Oblast that are under the control of Ukraine's defence forces.

  • As of 12 August, the Ukrainian military may control approximately 44 settlements in Russia's Kursk Oblast, the DeepState military analysis project believes.
  • Oleksandr Syrskyi, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, said at a meeting of the Staff of the Supreme Commander-in-Chief that Ukrainian forces are conducting an offensive operation in the territory of Kursk Oblast, Russia. "As of now, about 1,000 sq km of Russian territory is under our control…The situation is under our control," he said.
  • Oleksandr Syrskyi reported on 14 August that over 100 Russian soldiers had been captured in Russia's Kursk Oblast since the beginning of the day.
