Tribute to Adonis clinic doctors and patients killed in Russian missile attack on Kyiv – photos
A private clinic in a chain called Adonis was struck in the Russian missile attack on Kyiv on 8 July. Seven people were killed by missile debris – two patients and five members of the medical team. Another member of staff is in hospital in a critical condition.
Iryna Salo, who works in the marketing department at Adonis, told Ukrainska Pravda.Zhyttia that one of the patients was a 29-year-old woman.
In a tragic loss at the clinic, senior cashier Viktoria Bondarenko is among those who have passed away. She left behind two children; her son and husband are currently in a war zone. Colleagues fondly recall her as always cheerful, positive, and kind-hearted.
Also, tragically lost was senior nurse Tetiana Sharova. She moved to Kyiv from Donetsk with her son in 2014. Her son was known to have been captured by the Russians; he got married recently.
"Tetiana was not just a professional in her field but also a dear friend; her empathy and support were invaluable to each of us," the ADONIS clinic staff posted.
The attack also claimed the life of housekeeper Oksana Korzh, a mother of two. Her younger son graduated from school this year, while her elder daughter gave birth to twins just before the tragedy. The staff remember her as a wonderful, caring, kind, and attentive person.
The hostile missile attack also killed ultrasound diagnostician Viktor Brahutsa, leaving two daughters without a father.
"He was the heart of the clinic, so positive, always joking, and uplifting the staff," Iryna said about Brahutsa.
The clinic also confirmed the loss of obstetrician-gynaecologist Svitlana Poplavska. This information had been previously reported online.
Svitlana was from Mykulyntsi in Ternopil Oblast. She graduated from the Kharkiv National Medical University in 2008, specialising in gynaecology. She was also an ultrasound expert and a consultant in sexology.
Svitlana had worked at the Adonis clinic for about five years, and at a women’s health centre in the city of Brovary before that.
Svitlana had recently returned from maternity leave. Her youngest daughter is under two.
The news of Svitlana’s death shocked her patients and friends, who have been sharing their memories on social media.
Svitlana’s patients describe her as a good specialist and highly professional.
"Svitlana has been my doctor since forever," Tetiana Pavliuk said in her post. "She was kind, open-hearted, smart and sincere.
I don’t often come across doctors who make you look forward to your appointments because they aren’t just check-ups, but also a therapy session and a lovely chat…
Yesterday Svitlana was killed by Russia. She is survived by three children, a loving family, the hundreds of patients she helped, and thousands of unfinished errands and plans…"
Svitlana’s family is now in need of financial help.
