Families affected by attack on Okhmatdyt will receive payments – Ukrainian government

The government has allocated 100 million hryvnias (about US$2.4 million) for the reconstruction of the Okhmatdyt National Specialised Children’s Hospital, and affected families will be able to receive assistance in the amount of 10,800 hryvnias (US$264) per family member.

Details: In addition, the PM noted each family with children affected by the 8 July attack on Okhmatdyt will receive assistance from UNICEF in the amount of 10,800 hryvnias per family member.

Background:

  • On the morning of 8 July, Ukraine’s Air Force reported that Russian Tu-95 bombers had taken off from the Olenya airfield.
  • Ukraine’s Air Force reported that the Russians had launched missiles and aerial bombs on Ukraine, and an air-raid warning was issued throughout the country.
  • A Russian missile strike on 8 July in Kyiv hit the premises of the Okhmatdyt National Children's Specialised Hospital, causing casualties. 
  • UNITED24, a Ukrainian state fundraising platform, and monobank, one of the largest private banks in Ukraine, raised another 100 million hryvnias to support the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in three hours.
