The Centre for Strategic Communications (StratCom) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) has released a map of 10 record-breaking long-range strikes on military targets in Russia in the first six months of 2024.

Details: The centre emphasised that Ukraine has been systematically launching strikes on Russia with domestically-produced weapons for more than six months. Thus, the use of Western-made weapons will not violate any additional imaginary "red lines" [as Ukraine has already targeted Russia’s rear with domestically-produced weapons].

As Ukraine gradually builds up the capabilities of its defence industrial base, its defence forces constantly increase the range and effectiveness of their strikes. StratCom stressed that the authorisation to use Western-supplied weapons systems will expand Ukraine's defence capabilities and bring the end of the Russo-Ukrainian war closer.

Quote: "The launch location and distance to the targets are indicated for the sake of illustration. The StratCom of the AFU also cannot claim that the Ukrainian defence forces are behind each of the strikes and not partisans or Russians dissatisfied with their government."

  • Ukrainska Pravda sources noted that a drone launched by Ukraine's Defence Intelligence had attacked a Voronezh-M long-range target detection radar station located in the Russian city of Orsk, Orenburg Oblast, on 26 May 2024.
  • The Ukrainian drone travelled over 1,800 km (roughly 1,100 miles) to the Russian facility, setting a new record for the strike range of kamikaze drones.
