Ukrainian tennis player Daiana Yastremska wins in first round of 2024 Olympics

Daiana Yastremska (26), Ukrainian tennis player from the city of Odesa, has defeated her Brazilian opponent Laura Pigossi (110) in the first round of the 2024 Olympics.

The match lasted for exactly two hours and ended with a score 3-6, 7-5, 6-0.

In the first set Daiana faced problems due to a large quantity of involuntary mistakes (39 in total) but in the second game she managed to turn the game and close the third set to zero.

Colombian tennis player Camila Osorio (84) will be Daiana’s rival in the second round after defeating Olena Ostapenko, the 11th racket of the world.

Background: Ukrainian tennis players Elina Svitolina and Marta Kostiuk also entered the second round of the 2024 Olympics, while Anhelina Kalinina withdrew from the tournament due to an illness.
