Risk of encirclement near Prohres: Ukrainian forces say Russians are under their fire

The Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group of Forces has reported that it is trying to push the Russians back from the village of Prohres on the Pokrovsk front. A few days ago, DeepState reported that the village had been occupied by the Russians.

Details: The situation on the Pokrovsk front is said to be tense and complicated in the area of responsibility of the Khortytsia Operational Strategic Group of Forces, where units of the 31st Separate Mechanised Brigade are engaged in defensive battles.

Ukrainian forces hold the defence near the settlements of Prohres, Lozyvatske, Ivanivka and Vozdvyzhenka.

The brigade command is monitoring and analysing the tactical situation in order to "take measures to respond to changes in the situation".

• According to Deep State, the Russians occupied the village of Prohres in the Pokrovsk district, Donetsk Oblast, on 20 July.
• The DeepState analysts pointed out that there is a risk that part of the Ukrainian defence forces grouping near the village of Prohres in Donetsk Oblast could become encircled.
• It was noted that a further Russian advance has two goals. The first is to approach or cut off the Pokrovsk-Kostiantynivka road. In addition, there is high ground of 229.0 metres to the west of Vozdvyzhenka. The second is to move along the ridge along which the railway runs with further access to high ground at 224.8 metres and Novohrodivka.
