Consumers in Poltava and Chernihiv oblasts suffer power outages due to Russian attacks

Russian forces targeted Ukrainian energy facilities using UAVs on the night of 19-20 July, causing power outages in Chernihiv and Poltava oblasts.

Details: The Russians reportedly attacked the facilities of the electricity transmission system operator in Chernihiv, Poltava and Sumy oblasts. This resulted in power outages in certain districts of Chernihiv and Poltava oblasts.

Nearly all consumers were reconnected to the power grid by the morning. Emergency repair efforts are underway.

Background:

  • On Saturday, 20 July, the rolling blackout schedules will be applied partially: from 00:00 to 02:00 and from 05:00 to 24:00.
  • On 16 July, Unit No.3 at Rivne nuclear power plant was connected to the grid after 45 days of repairs, but it is still unable to operate at full capacity due to grid constraints.
