President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has said that Ukraine needs 25 Patriot air defence systems to completely protect the sky from Russian attacks.

Quote from Zelenskyy: "From the point of view of the structure of our air defence, in order to completely cover Ukraine, according to our military, we need 25 [Patriot] systems. This is to completely cover the sky of Ukraine."

Details: The head of state reiterated that Patriot is not the only air defence system Ukraine needs, as a whole range of measures is being taken to protect the sky.
Background:
- At the end of June, Ukraine's Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba met with James O'Brien, US Assistant Secretary of State, to coordinate efforts for supplying Patriot air defence missile systems to Ukraine.
- On 21 June, Dutch Defence Minister Kajsa Ollongren announced that the Netherlands, together with another state, would provide Ukraine with a Patriot air defence system.
- On 5 July, German Ambassador Martin Jaeger announced the arrival of the third Patriot system sent by Germany to Ukraine.
