Zelenskyy on possible changes in government: We are engaged in this process

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that potential personnel changes in the Cabinet of Ministers, the Ukrainian government, were discussed with individual ministers, including Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.

Details: The president was asked if fellow Ukrainians should expect Shmyhal to be replaced soon or if there will be large-scale changes in government.

Quote: "If there are any government changes, you will be made aware of them. We cannot just talk about replacing the prime minister. This implies that there may be changes in the government. Most likely, yes. We are engaged in this process.

We are consulting some ministries on specific adjustments."

Background:

• In early July, Ukrainska Pravda sources close to President Volodymyr Zelenskyy revealed that he was  "tired" of Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal and was likely to fire him.
• As of the beginning of July, Yuliia Svyrydenko, Ukraine's First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy, is the only candidate being seriously discussed as a potential replacement for Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal.
