44% of residents of Ukraine believe that the time for official peace talks between Ukraine and Russia has come, while 35% are convinced that it has not. At the same time, the vast majority of respondents disagree with Russian leader Vladimir Putin's conditions.

Details: ZN.UA emphasises that almost half (49%) of residents of the centre of Ukraine will calmly accept information about the start of official negotiations with Russia. The lowest number of those who are ready for negotiations was recorded in the west of Ukraine, at 35%.

"And now it is worth noting that it is not the west of the country, but the east, which is under daily attack by Russian aerial bombs, that is the one that is most reluctant to negotiate. Only 33% of residents of the east of Ukraine are ready for negotiations, and almost as many (34%) are against them. And almost as many (32%) are still undecided," ZN.UA writes.

ZN.UA cites the figures from the south of Ukraine as indicative. 60% of residents of the south believe that the time has come for official negotiations with Russia, which is almost 16% higher than the average for Ukraine.

At the same time, the majority of Ukrainians believe that it is not necessary to agree to the conditions put forward by Vladimir Putin on the eve of the Peace Summit.

In particular, 83% of respondents do not agree with the withdrawal of Ukrainian troops from the territory of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia oblasts within their administrative borders.

84% of respondents are against ceding these oblasts to the Russian Federation.

77% of Ukrainians do not agree that all Western sanctions against Russia should be lifted.

However, opinions differed on the idea that Ukraine's neutral, non-aligned and non-nuclear status should be recorded in the Constitution of Ukraine: 58% against, 22% in favour.

ZN.UA emphasises that only 9% of residents of the west of Ukraine accept such amendments to the Constitution. The central part of the country has 25% of those who agree, and the east 23%. The highest level of support for such changes is in the south, and 39% of residents of this area are ready to support Ukraine's neutrality. If we look at this figure in terms of age, the citizens of the southern regions in the 60+ age group are more inclined to support neutrality.

ZN.UA notes that the study surveyed the opinions of 2027 respondents aged 18 and over and that the theoretical sampling error does not exceed 2.3%. It aso notes that they interviewed people representing the home front in Ukraine.

"Most of the passionate volunteers or those who were forced to join them are at the front. It is now impossible to study the opinion of the army, which bears the burden of the war and has the right to have the most significant voice, if not the decisive one, in negotiations with Russia. Therefore, the results of the poll cannot be considered the opinion of the entire country. This is the opinion of the home front," ZN.UA writes.
