Macron and Zelenskyy sign agreements on financing critical infrastructure of Ukraine

Ukraine and France's presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Emmanuel Macron in Paris on 7 June signed agreements to provide help for the repair of Ukrainian essential infrastructure.

Details: According to the French president, the delegations from Kyiv and Paris met to discuss Ukraine's reconstruction and "decided that new tools would be created to accompany" the process.

"An agreement has been signed to establish a €200 million fund for companies that will invest in Ukraine's critical infrastructure for reconstruction. We also resolved that €60 million of this money would be allocated to the energy sector and its priority [issues]," he stated.

In addition, Macron stated that Paris is increasing the mission of the French Development Agency to support projects in Ukraine at the local level and sending 20 technical specialists to several key ministries in Ukraine to provide technical assistance.

The Élysée Palace previously announced the signing of two agreements enabling the provision of €650 million to Ukraine in the form of loans and grants to support, in particular, critical energy infrastructure objects that are the target of Russia's attacks.

On 6 June, Zelenskyy and his wife Olena arrived at Omaha Beach, where a ceremony to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Allied landing in Normandy was held. 

On the same day, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the transfer of several French Mirage 2000-5 fighter jets to Ukraine and the training of additional Ukrainian military personnel as part of a new cooperation with Kyiv.
