Ukraine's Energy Ministry on 1 GW of gas generation: several dozen MW already generated

The forecast concerning establishing 1 GW of gas-fired flexible generation is realistic and confirmed by clear, specific projects: several dozen MW are already being generated.

Details: Asked whether it is possible to establish up to 1 GW of capacity, Kolisnyk stated that it is possible and a corresponding programme and measures are being carried out.

Quote: "As of today, there are already corresponding facilities installed in some oblasts. Our forecast regarding establishing up to 1 GW of capacity is realistic and confirmed by clear, specific projects.

We can say that there are already several dozen MW being generated and established, and a few hundred MW are in the process of being connected, with clear dates for commissioning. So we see that there will definitely be up to 1 GW (1 GW – 1,000 MW – ed.) of distribution generation."

Background: 

On 11 June, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine, stated that Ukraine intended to build up to 1 GW of gas-fired flexible generation in 2024 and four more GW within the next few years with the help of its partners.
