Quote: "In response to the decision taken by the EU Council on 17 May to ban ‘any form of communication’ to three Russian publications (RIA Novosti, Izvestia and Rossiyskaya Gazeta), which comes into force on 25 June, counter restrictions on access on the territory of the Russian Federation to the broadcasting resources of a number of media of EU member states have been introduced," the ministry’s statement says.
In total, Russia has blocked the broadcasting of 81 media outlets in 25 European nations, including Germany’s Der Spiegel and Der Zeit, pan-European Politico and EUobserver, Polish Belsat, Lithuanian LRT, French France-Presse, and others.
If the restrictions on Russian media are lifted, the Russian government will review its position concerning the aforementioned media agencies.
