President Volodymyr Zelenskyy had a telephone conversation with his Polish counterpart, Andrzej Duda, on 21 June.

Details: During the conversation, the Ukrainian president thanked Duda for "actively supporting the Peace Summit", and they agreed to collaborate in involving other countries in the final communiqué.

Background:

  • The conversation between Zelenskyy and Duda took place after Ukraine and Poland held the final round of talks on signing a bilateral security agreement.
  • The bilateral security agreement between Ukraine and Poland could reportedly be finalised and signed before the NATO summit, which will be held on 9-11 July.
  • On 20 June, Pawel Kowal, a Polish lawmaker and chairman of Poland's Council for Cooperation with Ukraine, stated that the agreement would be ready soon.
